Once I saw through bright eyes.
Innocent eyes.
Eyes that trusted all they surveyed.
Life was new,
faces were and adventure.
And bias, prejudice, and hatred,
were reserved for the others.
The souls that could not see
past their own immortality.
They blinded me.
Twisted the light, so I would see only myself
in it's brilliance.
And so I shamed my eyes.
My bright, innocent eyes.
I was consumed with the light.
It's radiance,
it's warmth.
I could not,
would not share.
Until on day,
I awoke in darkness.
And realized that I had learned nothing.
I had not remembered.
And so,
I begin again.
